This sounds like you’ve got a low battery in your Veritas alarm and you should replace your battery.

Burglar alarm batteries normally last about 4 years, and then should be changed.  If a battery is too old or if you have a battery fault, the battery charger may get overwhelmed with charging old battery and is no longer capable providing enough power to feed the rest of the system.

Don’t worry though, you can still set your alarm by omitting the battery fault, and your alarm is fitted with fuses to protect itself, so nothing bad will happen.  However, we don’t recommended omitting the fault for too long as you are compromising your security.

In case of a power cut, or if burglars cut the mains power to your house before they break in, the old battery is not going to be able to back up your alarm for too long. Instead, you’ll find that your alarm will die in seconds, or minutes if you’re lucky.

How to fix Veritas alarm battery fault

If you have a burglar alarm battery fault with your Veritas system, we’d recommend buying a replacement alarm battery (click here for replacement battery options).
There are x3 different  batteries that fit the Texecom Veritas alarm – these are all 12V and differ in their ‘ah’ rating, the different options being 2.1ah, 3.4ah and 7ah.
All these batteries work in the Veritas alarm – but the difference is in the ‘size’ of the battery – both physical size, and the length of time that the battery will be able to support your alarm if there’s a power cut .  The 2.1ah is the smallest and the 7ah the biggest.
If you want to buy an alarm battery, view all x3 options via our online shop here >>

We’d recommend the 3.4ah as the safest / best option to choose – as this is the mid-size, so will both fit inside your alarm panel and also provide a good level of battery life in the case of a power cut.
