There are limitations with the compatibility between the new Texecom Connect SmartCom and Premier alarm panels.  This is in line with challenges between integrating new and old technologies – the point being that it’s not always the case that new systems ‘play’ with old systems and can therefore cause problems / cause the SmartCom not to work.
So, key questions are therefore ‘what version of the Premier alarm is the Connect SmartCom compatible with’ and ‘why doesn’t my SmartCom work with my Premier alarm’? (the two questions being very much linked).

Q: What version of the Texecom Premier is compatible with the SmartCom?

A: The SmartCom only works with the Premier Elite series of Texecom alarms, it will NOT work with older ‘Premier’ alarms (i.e. versions of the Premier that are not Premier Elite).
The SmartCom should work with all Premier Elite panels, however if you have a Premier Elite that has firmware older than v.4 firmware (which was launched in August 2017), then you will need to update the firmware by ‘flashing’ the panel – using a special Premier Flasher interface.

Q: How do I check the version of firmware of my Premier alarm panel?

A: To check the firmware version of your Texecom Premier Elite alarm you need to do the following:
  • Enter engineer code
  • Press [No] until “Yes to select:- Engineer Utils”
  • Press [Yes] for “Engineer Utils View Event Log”
  • Press [4] for “Engineer Utils System Tests”
  • Press [Yes] for “Do you want to View Sys. Status”
  • Press [4] for “View Version No”
  • Press [Yes] to view

Q: Why does my SmartCom and Premier alarm not work?

A: If the SmartCom and Premier alarm still don’t work together then there may be other problems – e.g. you may have a faulty SmartCom, so please check with another unit to check it’s not a hardware problem.
