If you have a tampering problem with your Texecom Premier alarm, then a message along the lines of ‘Auxilary Tamper’ will show on the screen. Simply enter your 4 digit user code, followed by RESET to remove the fault message and reset.

If the tampered message doesn’t clear, then you have a tamper fault on your system and will require an engineer on-site to identify the problem and fix.

Texecom Lid Tamper fault – how to fix

If you’ve got a message appear on your Texecom alarm that says ‘Lid Tamper’, this indicates that you have a lid tamper fault on your main alarm panel.

There are x2 tamper springs / detectors on a Texecom alarm panel, these are:

  • Panel lid tamper spring: this is a small spring that detects whether the lid of the alarm panel is correctly installed / screwed in. This panel tamper spring enables the system to detect whether someone is trying to open the panel (i.e. unscrew the front) – and will set the alarm off if this is attempted (as it’s on a 24 hour alarm circuit, meaning it is always active).
  • Rear tamper switch: this is a switch at the back of the panel which detects whether the alarm is firmly attached to the wall. This rear tamper switch is designed to detect whether someone is trying to remove the alarm from the wall.

Typical common faults with Texecom panel lid tamper, and how to fix are:

  • Check the panel lid tamper spring is a) present (i.e. it hasn’t fallen off) b) that it is correctly positioned, and is actually activating the button it’s attached to.
  • Check the back tamper switch is activated properly and that the panel has been screwed to the wall using the correct screw hole – as if you don’t screw the panel using the screwhole with the tamper attached, then the tamper won’t activate. N.B. it’s also possible to damage the back tamper switch by over-tightening the screw, so check you haven’t damaged it.
